Biography
Jukka Kärkkäinen has a long-term and wide experience working as a manager, a developer and a specialist in the mental health and health care sector, both on municipal and state level and clinical practice. He has also experience in juridical bodies dealing with judgements of involuntary treatment and matters of social security. He has a diverse education, Doctor of Medical Science (DMedSci), Specialist in Psychiatry, Specialist´s Qualification in Administration and Master of Science (MSc, Law). He has also experience as a member of board of two mental health associations, MIELI - Mental Health and Finnish Psychiatric Association. He has started 2021 as Director of Psychiatry in one of health care districts in Finland (Health care district of Satakunta in Western part of Finland). He is still continuing as Chairman of boards of two state mental hospitals and board of Unit of Healthcare Care Services for prisoners, as well as a coordinator for the development of the psychosis quality register to Finland, at National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Finland.
