Biography

Manuela Silva is a psychiatrist, working at the Department of Psychiatry of Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte, in Lisbon, Portugal, where she is the coordinator of the Community Mental Health Team and of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit.
She graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. She did her Master studies in Mental Health Policy and Services at the NOVA Medical School of Lisbon, and completed her PhD in Medicine (Mental Health) at the NOVA Medical School of Lisbon.
She is member of the Executive Board of the Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health, and the coordinator of the Community Mental Health Services Research Team of the Lisbon Institute of Global Mental Health. She is Invited Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. She is researcher at the Comprehensive Health Research Centre, NOVA Medical School.
She is member of the Executive Board of the College of Psychiatry of the Portuguese Medical Association (2021-2023).
She was project manager of the Gulbenkian Global Mental Health Platform (20122018).
Her main areas of interest are: social determinants of mental health; mental health policy and services; psychosocial rehabilitation; psychiatric epidemiology; global mental health.
